We investigate whether firms’ "global engagement", either in the form of exporting or opening up affiliates abroad, is related to the change in their management performance. We use new and unique data from a recent large scale firm survey of management practices in Germany. We calculate management scores for firms as in Bloom et al. Kiel Centre for Globalization (KCG) is a project jointly initiated by the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW). The OECD Global Forum on International Investment (OECD-GFII) 2017 with the overarching topic “Addressing the Challenges of Globalization: Towards a Society-centred Investment Policy Agenda” is going to take place on March 6th at the OECD Conference Centre in Paris, France.
